Eight Christmases...Ty's First Christmas Adventure

Ty had a wonderful and busy first Christmas!!!

(1) Our festivities began the Sunday night before Christmas. We all went to Brent's Aunt and Uncle's house, where we had dinner and opened gifts. Ty was good for the most part. He loved Brent's Aunt Linda and stayed with her most of the night.

(2) Brent and I were both off work Christmas Eve. We spent the day last minute shopping and wrapping the remainder of our gifts. That night we went to Great Granny's for dinner...where Ty played the piano and posed for a few pictures for Mommy.

(3) We then headed to Granna and Papa's to open gifts. Granna and Papa gave Ty a red radio flyer wagon along with several other toys, and Mal and Chip gave him a cute Winnie the Pooh outfit and giraffe. Brent drove him around in his wagon and he seemed to love it. Ty also introduced us to some new dance moves of his. Aunt Mal and Uncle Fish were messing with Chip's new ipod and Ty heard the music and started his own little dance. It was really funny.

(4) Christmas morning got off to a bit of a rough start. Of all mornings, Ty wanted to sleep late, and was not very happy about getting up. He finally came around and we went to see what Santa brought him. We tried to get Ty to "open" his gifts, but Brooks decided to help him out. In fact, Brooks opened every one of his gifts. Santa brought Ty an activity table, an Elmo, lots of outfits, a glow worm, a lovey, a crawl ball, a train, leapfrog magnets, little cars, and I'm sure much more that I am forgetting! (Santa might have gone a little overboard! Oh well, he only has one 1st Christmas!!)(5) After opening our gifts, we were on the road again. This time to Pops and Ann's house for Christmas brunch. Ty had a good time visiting with his 1 year old cousin Owen. He made it to about 10:30 a.m. when he finally passed out for a long nap.

(6) Around lunch time, we headed to Grammy and Grandaddy's house for more presents! Ty got a car that lets us push him around, a microphone stand with piano, lots of outfits, bath toys,a Mickey Mouse and much more! Ty loved his little car and let Grandaddy push him around the house. One of my personal faves was a little dachshund outfit and beanie cap from Janie and Jack from Uncle Casey and Aunt Brandi.
(7) After opening gifts, Ty and I curled up for a little nap before heading to Nona and Grandaddy Beards for dinner. Ty racked up yet again. He got more outfits, more toys, and his Aunt Sue and Uncle Randy opened him up a special savings account. He was so good. He entertained us at dinner by getting his sweet potatoes everywhere but his mouth, played in the floor, and even tried some of Nona's banana pudding. (Mommy got a little carried away and gave him too much....making him sick much later...ooops!) He finally could not take the Christmas fun anymore and cuddled up with Aunt Sue and went to sleep. Not too worry though, the excitement was just too much. He woke up when we got him home, hyper as could be and stayed up til 1 a.m.!!(8) The morning after Christmas, we met Jaime, Jason and Brady at Cracker Barrell for our Christmas together. The boys were very good, especially since we had to wait a pretty long time for a table. Brady got Ty a shape cookie jar and a cute fleece outfit.
So after all is said and done, here is a picture of Ty's "loot".....I think he did pretty good! And thanks to some awesome grandparents...Mom and Dad did too!

As you can imagine, Ty's first Christmas left us exhausted, but it was perfect. We are so thankful to have so much family and special friends in our life. Thank you to everyone for making Ty's first Christmas so special!

Ty and Santa

Just another reason I love Ty's daycare. They had someone dress up as Santa and took pictures of the kids with him. They put all Ty's pics on a CD for our Christmas present! It definitely beats standing in line for hours at the mall!
Brent and I went with Ty the morning they did the pictures. Ty wasn't wild about sitting with him. He didn't cry but definitely did not want to touch Santa. No smiles, but I thought they were still cute!

All About Ty!

Ty is growing up so fast! He is now 8 and a half months old! I am TERRIBLE about writing in his baby book, so I thought I would list a few things he has started doing...

* As you can see, he is sitting up on his own very well now. He loves to sit in the floor and play.

* He's not crawling, but the boy is still ON THE MOVE! Our friend Rachel let us borrow her son's walker. Well Ty figured it out last week and the boy is all over the house....taking decorations off the tree, clearing off our coffee table...just a preview to the crawling days!

* He's been saying Dada since he was 6 months old. But he finally said Mama. Me, Ronnie and Jo Ann were at the table eating dinner and he was in his jumperoo. Well he was tired of it and got mad so he started screaming "Momma, Momma, Momma!" I was so happy :)! Of course he still only says it when he gets mad!

* He also has learned Bye Bye! We were leaving daycare the other day and his teacher said bye bye. Well he looked at her and said bye bye too! I was like when did you start doing that???!

*He also loves to takes "sips" out of Mommy and Daddy's cup or can. He especially loves Diet Mountain Dew. I literally cannot drink one without him screaming and reaching for it.

*His favorite toys are now my cell phone and the remote control! Once he sees them, he has to have them.

* He has two teeth now on the bottom! He got his first one November 16 (7.5 months) and the second one soon followed. I don't think he is going to be a terrible teether thank goodness!

Time to Play Catch Up!

The past few months have been SOOOOOO BUSY in the Beard household!!! Of course I can't remember all that has happened so I'll just list the big stuff!

October-
Ty celebrated his first Halloween! Unfortunately, he was sick. But we dressed him up as a little monkey and all the grandparents came to visit. He looked precious as you can see!!!

November/ December-
We had a great first Thanksgiving as a family. We have SO MUCH to be thankful for this year!We had lunch at Pop's and Ann's with the Bradley side of the family, then dinner at Nona's for Brent's family. Ty was VERY good all day!

We also had to make a couple of visits to Children's ER! The Sunday after Thanksgiving, Ty broke out in a rash. I called the on-call nurse to see what to do and she instructed us to head straight to the ER in case of meningitis! We were so scared, but after hanging out in the ER for a couple of hours, he was diagnosed with roseola. I had never hear of it, but its just a virus where babies run fever and have a rash....nothing serious. Thank God! But wait.....fast forward to the next Sunday night. We were about to eat dinner at Brent's parents' house and noticed Ty was burning up. He was running a 103 fever and not totally alert. He also seemed to be having trouble breathing. So off we go again! It was really scary because we were taken back immediately and his pulse rate was way too high. They gave him so medicine to bring his fever down, and he seemed to get better. Turns out he had another virus and his fever got too high, too fast which caused the difficult breathing and him not being very alert. We kept him home the following Monday, and he was much better by Tuesday. And...there is more good news! We made it through this past Sunday totally healthy! Hopefully these ER visits are a thing of the past!!!
