Fun with Baby Ty

Ty and I had a big day yesterday. We met Alisha for lunch at Tippey's. He was so good...just slept while me and Alisha caught up. Then we went over to play with Jaime and Brady. Jaime and I got some sun while Brady played in his pool and Ty slept sat in his swing on the porch. Brady is so cute...always trying to share his snacks with Ty! Then we went to dinner with Brent's parents at Logans, where he once again took a good little nap. He woke up when we got home and was happy as could be, cooing and smiling more than he ever has! He took a bottle, and then slept from 11 p.m. til 5:30 this morning! Now he is in bed sleeping again with his Daddy!

He is growing up so fast and getting more fun everyday! It makes me sad that I will have to leave him to go back to work in a couple of weeks. Oh well, I'm going to make the most of every moment we have left at home!

I'm about to head to Alisha's baby shower! I can't believe we are only 9 weeks away from meeting little Gabriel!

Baby Ty Update- 2 months old!!!

Well, obviously I am really bad at this whole blogging thing. Maybe I will have more time to do it when back at work!
Ty is growing so fast. He is now 2 months old and over 10 lbs! He has developed a little colic, and is fussy in the evenings, but he is a sweet, wonderful baby boy! He slept through the night for the first time Friday night! He was fussy at bed time, so I pulled him in the bed with us, and next thing I knew we were waking up at 6 a.m.! He hasn't done it again, but over the weekend and last night he only woke up once! So things are definitely improving in the sleep department!

Brent and I left him for the first time this weekend to go to a wedding in Atlanta. We had a great time, but we missed our little guy so much!!
Here are some of my favorite pics from Ty's first couple of months:

Matthew Tyler "Ty" Beard

Baby Ty arrived early on March 27, 2009 at 3:54 p.m. He weighed 6 lbs, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. I have been a really bad blogger....because he is now almost a month old!! We are doing great so far...Brent and I are just adjusting to parenthood! Here is a little history...

Birth Story:

It all started on Wednesday March 25. I started having contractions that night that stayed between 5 and 7 minutes apart. We went to see Dr. Stone early Thursday morning. I had progressed to about 2 cm and we were sent to Labor and Delivery to be monitored. After about 5 hours and no more progress, I was given some pain medicine that slowed the contractions and sent home. That night around 2 a.m. the contractions came back, this time stronger so we headed back to St. Vincent's Friday morning. I had made it to around 3 cm, so we were sent back to Labor and Delivery again. By 2:30 that afternoon, I had made no more progress but my contractions were still strong. I had the sweetest nurse, Sam, that took care of us that afternoon. I swear if it hadn't been for her, I wouldn't have made it. I figured I would get sent home once again, and then Sam came in with an oxygen mask and I knew something was about to happen. Ty's heart rate had began to drop with each contraction. My doctor had left for the day, so the on call doctor was paged. I was terrified of having a doctor I didn't know, but I swear she was an angel. She was a young doctor and pregnant herself. She took one look at Ty's monitor and said, "I'm not watching this, its time for him to come out." Before I knew it, she had broken my water, and 10 people were in my room preparing me for an emergency C-section. It was a whirlwind...I was so scared but the the doctor and Sam were so sweet and encourgaing. A few minutes later I got my spinal and surgery started. Ty was born seconds later. I think the whole surgery took maybe 30 minutes!

Ty's NICU stay:

After they sewed me back up, we headed back to our room. Our parents and a few friends got to come visit. Ty started to have trouble maintaining his temperature. That paired with the fact that I had tested positive for Group B Strep concerned the nurses and doctors. I wasn't treated for it since I had an emergency C-section and it can be very dangerous to babies. So around midnight, a doctor came and took Ty to the NICU to treat him for possible infection. I think that will always be one of the hardest moments of my life. This little baby had been a part of me for so long, and then hours later he was taken from me and I didn't know if he would be okay. The good news is, he was fine! He was given antibiotics and monitored as a precaution, but was a healthy baby boy!

Life at Home:

Ty is doing great! I had a tough time the first few days because of my C-section, but now I'm feeling better and we are all adjusting. These past few weeks have by far been the craziest of my life, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. We are still trying to establish some kind of sleep schedule, but I know it will come with time.

I can't believe how much he has grown already! His little face is getting pudgier by the day! We go for his one month check-up tomorrow. I can't believe how fast time has flown by!

37 Week Appointment

Well looks like Ty is going to be camping out for awhile longer. Dr. Stone checked me out today...only a fingertip dialated! I was hoping for more, but progress is progress. My blood pressure was on the high side...he said if it gets much higher we will talk induction. So next appointment is next Thursday. He'll check me again and we will get our last ultrasound to check his size and position. So we will just pray for more progress next week!

Almost Full Term!

So tomorrow I will be 37 weeks....which means Ty will be a full-term baby! I honestly can't believe we are so close. It could literally be any day now!

We had a little scare Sunday night...I started having contrations ever 5-10 minutes which lasted more than 2 hours! I was convinced they were just Braxton Hicks, but Brent finally made me call the doctor. The on call doctor called back and said there was really no need to worry until they were very consistent (EXACTLY 5 minutes apart) and told me to lay down and take it easy the rest of the night. So I did, and they eventually went away. He did say that I am probably dialating some, since they were coming so frequently! It was really funny looking back. Brent was in panic mode. I insisted on taking a shower before calling the doc, when I got out he had both of our suitcases out throwing stuff in them! So if nothing else, this little epsiode has convinced us to be prepared. We are both semi packed and I have a list on the fridge to check before we leave. I'm going this afternoon to pick up some last minute items. This weekend I am going to make one more Target/ Babies R Us run and then we should be set! It looks like Ty has already arrived at home. His swing, bouncer and playmat are in the den, his pack and play is up next to our bed, and his car seat is installed (after lots of difficulty!) in the Jetta. (We WILL be purchasing a BIGGER car soon!)

My next appointment is tomorrow morning and I am very excited/ nervous! Dr. Stone will finally check to see if I have made any progress. I am hoping I have!!
I'll update after my appointment!

Work Baby Shower!

So I am a little behind on posting. A couple of weeks ago, the girls at work and my volunteers hosted Brent and I another baby shower. It was great! We got tons of cute stuff, including an awesome Jeep jogging stroller, baby gear, and some of the cutest outfits ever! Brent and I are both lucky to work with such wonderful people. Thanks Alisha, Haley and Sherry for another great shower!
Here are a few pics!
